The Fox and Roman in York is a country pub & restaurant oozing rural charm and rustic character. Our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.
Steeped in as much history as the nearby city of York, our name The Fox and Roman reflects the building's former use as The Fox Hotel and also to a Roman grave found on the site in 1833, we even have a few artefacts on display. The Fox Hotel used to stable racehorses and we still welcome friendly crowds of race goers on race days at the nearby York Racecourse.
